Interactive Workshop: Decision-Making in the Age of AI – Youth Employment and Democratic Trust
As part of Democracy Week 2026 in Geneva, we are co-organising an interactive workshop for young people on the theme ‘Decision-making in the age of AI – Youth employment and democratic trust’.

ABOUT THE EVENT
Artificial intelligence is already transforming the world of work. But at what cost? Whilst it opens up unprecedented prospects, it also raises major questions: the risk of deskilling (the erosion of human skills), the future of youth employment, changes in occupations, equitable access to opportunities, and the responsibility of businesses, institutions and education systems.
In a healthy democracy, these choices cannot be left solely to technological developments or market forces. They call for a collective debate on the skills we wish to preserve, develop and pass on to future generations.
This interactive workshop will bring together experts from the academic, business, technological and institutional sectors, as well as members of the public, for a participatory dialogue. Together, they will explore how to prepare young people for a future shaped by artificial intelligence, whilst fostering trust, inclusion and everyone’s ability to contribute fully to democratic life.
Because revitalising democracy also means enabling everyone to find their place in a rapidly changing world of work.
JOIN US FOR AN INTERACTIVE SESSION
Come and take part in a thoroughly interactive and dynamic session: participants take on the role of the executive committee of a company facing real-world decisions relating to AI, whilst the facilitators act as advisers.
Votes, dilemmas, the ‘decision wheel’ and role-play scenarios encourage everyone to take a stand, compare perspectives and, at times, change their minds. The aim: to collectively experience what it means to make responsible and deeply human decisions in the age of AI.

About Geneva Democracy Week
International Democracy Day, established by the UN, takes place every year on 15 September. Celebrated in more than 100 countries, it aims to ‘re-examine the state of democracy around the world’. To mark the occasion, the State Chancellery of the Canton of Geneva has been organising Geneva Democracy Week since 2015, which focuses on a theme related to democratic issues in the canton of Geneva. The 2026 edition will be held from 3 to 11 October and will focus on the theme ‘Reinventing democracy: between tradition and innovation’.
