About the Grand Hotel and the Caux Palace
The Grand Hôtel in Caux and the Caux Palace were part of the same building complex when they were inaugurated; they fascinate visitors with their architecture, but also with their respective histories and transformations over the decades.
The tour begins at the Grand Hôtel: Once frequented by European aristocracy and the great figures of the time, the Grand Hôtel welcomed among its prestigious guests Empress Elisabeth of Austria, known as Sissi. As you walk through its doors, you will be following in the footsteps of this legendary sovereign, whose presence left a special mark on these surroundings.
During afternoon tea served at the Grand Hôtel (homemade cakes, biscuits, tea, coffee), you will have the opportunity to chat with the managers of the building.
The tour continues at the Caux Palace, a former palace hotel that impresses with its majestic appearance and exceptional panoramic view of Lake Geneva and the surrounding Alps. It has welcomed guests such as Kipling, A. Rubinstein and Fitzgerald. One of the largest palaces when it opened, it embodies the splendour and architectural audacity of its era and now belongs to the Caux Initiatives and Change Foundation.
Your guides will reveal fascinating anecdotes, secrets and stories about the life that animated and still animates these exceptional sites.
