Retreat for professional and individual changemakers
A three-day retreat at the Caux Palace for professional and individual changemakers (incl. preparation and integration session)
Do you feel like you’re constantly working under (too much) pressure? Are you longing to go beyond discussions about deadlines and the scarcity of resources to do the deeper work?
Perched above Lake Geneva and facing the Alps, the Caux Palace has been a living centre for dialogue, reconciliation and peace since 1946. More than a venue, it is a space shaped by its history, where the mountain setting, the quality of welcome and the deliberate rhythm of daily life actively create the conditions for reflection, honest conversation and human connection.
Here, far from the pressures of everyday life, we offer a rare environment that invites you to slow down, reconnect with your values and explore how inner transformation can open pathways to wider change — in your work, your communities and the world.
Through various resilience practices, times of sharing and care, you will cultivate an aligned, lucid, and vibrant commitment as a changemaker. You can bring a concrete challenge from your own context and will receive professional guidance in finding solutions using stimulating methods and tools.
The retreat is organized by TransformAction Lab and the Caux Foundation.
About the event
Preparation
- The course faciliators will present the initial methodological foundations (including Theory U and Work That Reconnects) in a 90-minute online seminar. This will give you the opportunity to start noticing where you stand at the moment in your change work and lay the groundwork for a personal intention to take shape.
Retreat:
- During the three-and-a-half-day retreat at the Caux Palace (including three overnight stays), you will slow down, enjoy the historically meaningful environment, gain new perspectives from the program facilitators and your peers, develop approaches and ideas for profound change and resilience, and experiment trust in the face of uncertainty.
Transition:
- A month later, you will gather again online to share lessons learned and inspiration that strengthen your resilience and nourish your inner resources in the everyday context.
This program is conducted in English and will welcome people speaking French and German; a passive understanding of English is sufficient. During the retreat, work takes place both indoors and outdoors.

The Caux Palace
The Caux Palace, recognised as a historic monument of national importance, is a former luxury Belle Epoque hotel offering breathtaking views of Lake Geneva and the Alps. Nestled in the mountains, 1,000 metres above Montreux, it was born of the bold vision of the Vaud-based developer Ami Chessex and the renowned architect Eugène Jost, who also designed the Montreux Palace. When it opened in 1902, the Caux Palace was one of the largest and most prestigious luxury hotels in Switzerland.
An iconic landmark of the region, the Caux Palace is built on an impressive historic retaining wall featuring characteristic arches and a 400-metre-long promenade.
In 1946, the building was purchased by 100 Swiss families who wished to transform it into a meeting place for peace and reconciliation in post-war Europe. This vision laid the foundations for the Caux Palace’s enduring role as a centre for dialogue, peace and trustbuilding.
Today, the Caux Palace is owned by the Caux Foundation, a private, Swiss charitable foundation. Its mission is to inspire and host people with diverse beliefs, backgrounds and cultures, to build trust across the world's divides, live with integrity and lead ethically.
