Artist residencies & concerts at the Caux Palace
The concept
6 days, 7 nights - from 1 to 7 December 2024, the Émergences musicales offer a chance to get to know each other, listen to each other, write and compose together in an extraordinary setting.
At an altitude of 1,200 metres, with a bird's-eye view of the Leman basin, the Caux Palace is the setting for the ‘Émergences musicales Montreux-Riviera’, in short, a residency for new French-speaking talents in music writing and composition. The nine participants will benefit from personalised support in the songwriting process from recognised professionals. It's an artistic and human adventure that will enable them to broaden their network, develop their skills and, at the end of the week and perform their compositions on stage at the closing concert. This concert will take place at the theatre of the Caux Palace.

The venue
The Émergences musicales 2024 will take place at the Caux Palace, located in Caux, one of the villages that make up Montreux in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.
Designed by Vaud architect Eugène Jost, it was inaugurated on 7 July 1902. Built on a 500-metre-long terrace, with its many glazed-tile towers and turrets, the building can be seen from all over the region.
Purchased in 1946 by the Caux Initiatives of Change Foundation, it has often played host to the world's great and good on an informal basis, promoting peace and harmony between peoples. Owned by the Foundation, the Caux Palace is also home to the SHMS Hotel Management School. The building is classified as a cultural asset of national importance.
The spirit behind the Émergences musicales
This is not a TV game, there are no winners or losers. The speakers are not there to wax nostalgically about their lives or their work. Everyone is brought together to create for a week and benefit from privileged support. In the short term, the aim is to present a concert on the closing night. In the medium and long term, it also means taking advantage of this shared experience to hone their writing and composition skills. With this aim in mind, everyone is encouraged to give their all in the service of the group. There's no such thing as ‘rocket science’, just a desire to be useful and show to which point art is the most precious fuel that helps us to live together.
