Die Fraueninitiative Creators of Peace (CoP) wurde 1991 im Konferenzzentrum von Initiativen der Veränderung in Caux (Schweiz) von Anna Abdallah Msekwa aus Tansania, einer angesehenen Politikerin und Leiterin von Frauenorganisationen ihres Landes, ins Leben gerufen.

In ihrer Eröffnungsrede forderte sie alle auf, "Frieden zu schaffen, wo immer wir sind, in unseren Herzen, in unseren Häusern, an unserem Arbeitsplatz und in unserer Gemeinschaft. Wir alle geben vor, dass jemand anderes der Stolperstein sei... Könnte dieser jemand jedoch ich selbst sein?"

CoP wurde inzwischen zu einem globalen Netzwerk von Menschen aufgebaut, die sich auf verschiedenen Kontinenten durch Creators of Peace-Friedenskreise, Workshops, persönliche Begegnungen, gemeinschaftsbildende Aktivitäten und internationale Konferenzen für den Frieden engagieren.
